SANJOSE will build the new Ourense Intermodal Station

ADIF - High-Speed has awarded SANJOSE Constructora, in a joint venture with Copasa and Sineox Rail, the expansion and remodeling works of the Ourense Station, which will triple the space for passengers and will have eleven tracks (three of them standard gauge intended for high speed), turning it into a new hub for sustainable and intermodal mobility in the northwest of the country. This will address the increase in traffic associated with high-speed rail, liberalization, and modernization of the line to Monforte de Lemos and Lugo.

Regarding the passenger building , it stands out for the enhancement of its lobby by reopening the windows on the facade that will encourage natural lighting, the creation of a new glass boarding room with access to the platforms through of a covered and accessible overpass, equipped with elevators and fixed and mechanical stairs . In addition, it preserves and enhances the station building and its historical elements, such as the murals in the lobby.

The transformation of the station will promote the integration of the railway into the city and its permeability by providing a new space for citizens after partially covering the tracks and installing a new pedestrian walkway. Highlights include the remodeling of the square with a high-rise canopy at the main entrance of the station and lower modular covers elsewhere, promoting urban integration through pedestrian and vehicular access and connection with last-mile transportation.

It should be noted that its construction will pose a technical challenge, both due to the scale of the project - which includes the expansion and remodeling of the passenger building and tracks, as well as the partial covering of the tracks - and the coordination required to keep the station operational.
